10/19/11 - Salsa Dancing

Yeah. Midterms are really getting to me this semester for some reason. Sorry I didn't get Monday's sketchventures up. I just ran out of time. And sleep. And patience- I am just about ready to take a baseball bat to my piece of shit scanner. Oh yeah, used pencil. Thats all. Peace

  1. Zach,
You're looking to the right place for fluid gestures. Keep it up. But also keep your initial lines loose, as if you were placing a line down that defined the entire gesture, then built the figure around it. In the last drawing, look to give limbs a little more flexibility to them - avoid drawing straight stiff limbs.
Lastly, be more conscious about where you place darker lines - the overlap of limbs closer to the viewer, the shadow side of a figure, or the places where weight shift is emphasized.
But you're definitely looking in the right place to capture great gesture in the figure - keep drawing !
