11/21/11 - Cornell Campus Party, NY

This past weekend, I was lucky enough to get the opportunity to ride up to Ithaca, NY with some friends to visit (and bring home) one of my best mates from high school. Didn't quite accomplish as much sketching as I had hoped, due to a party going on that I didn't want to miss. These were done during the party in the co-op's basement- a band was playing on the stage, so there was a lot of motion, causing most of my sketches to fail miserably... Overall I ended up sketching way more architecture than people- their uni has some incredible arches and clock towers strewn about its campus that I just couldn't pass up. I may update this post with some sketches of students working in the library, if I can just find them.

11/7/11 - Hands, Hands, Everywhere Hands

Hands and a couple feet for good measure. I believe I went a bit too value-intense in several sketches- sorry about getting so carried away. Probably should have included more of the body's form/environment as well, but my main focus was to make the hands as proportional as I could manage.

11/2/11 - Topiary Park

Some people exercising, jogging, walking, etc. I had every intention to make it to Goodale park (wasn't feeling the idea of being inside North Market), but mistook the Topiary Park for it. Reviewing your email now, it has become abundantly apparent that Goodale is within a short distance of the market, otherwise you wouldn't have mentioned it. Man, I feel stupid...

10/31/11 - Trick or Treaters

So I tried something that is much different stylistically- gone are the construction lines from past work. Still very much off. Hard to hold the images of the kid's movements correctly in my mind on such a night of excitement and fun for them. Proper form/construction/motion all seem to keep eluding me.

10/19/11 - Salsa Dancing

Yeah. Midterms are really getting to me this semester for some reason. Sorry I didn't get Monday's sketchventures up. I just ran out of time. And sleep. And patience- I am just about ready to take a baseball bat to my piece of shit scanner. Oh yeah, used pencil. Thats all. Peace

10/10/11 - Victory Park Basketball

So these past week's comments from both Patrick and fellow students have been somewhat contradictory- one side says to focus on motion and less construction, whilst the other says to get my perspective and overall construction up to par. I'm definitely still trying to keep both of these helpful insights tied somewhat closely, but working around the issue of using a pen has still proved to be a challenge for me. I feel that my work this week gets down motion/balance/construction much better than in past weeks, but there are still some funky things going on- I decided to continue a clearly disproportionate drawing of a player performing a lay-up, and other than the elongated torso and arm, I think the motion is again, working better than in past weeks.

10/5/11 - Roaming Gang of Children

Most of my sketches were unfortunately rubbish, save these two. Feel pretty good about them for the most part, although the injured kid's face did not look so demonic prior to my rendering.

10/3/11 - Dog Park & Nearby Bike Paths

Sorry about the quality- didn't have immediate access to a scanner, so had to use my phone. Attempted another bike- still not done well- I can't seem to stop using too many lines to try to define everything.

9/28/11- Barnes & Noble

Much much happier with how these came out compared to 9/26.

9/26/11- Birthday Party

SOrry for this being so late. Can't say that I've had much energy this week from this cold/sinus thing. Kids are pretty damn hard to sketch. And I will definitely have my sketches from 9/28 up by tomorrow.
